Warrington Talking Trails for iOS and Android — last updated 15 September 2026

Short version: this app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The developer does not collect or receive your location. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us, because there is no server of ours to send it to.

Warrington Talking Trails is provided by Warrington Township for visitors to Township parks and trails.

What the app does

Warrington Talking Trails shows the trails and points of interest at Lions Pride Park and along the US202 to Bradford Dam trail. Small Bluetooth beacons are installed at points of interest; when the app detects that you are near one, it shows and announces information about that landmark.

Permissions, and why each is needed

Location (precise or approximate)
Used to draw your position on the map and to detect nearby Bluetooth trail beacons. The operating system requires location permission for beacon detection. Your location is used by the app on your device only. The app never transmits it, stores it beyond the moment it is displayed, or shares it with the developer.
Nearby devices (Bluetooth scanning)
Used to detect the trail beacons, which broadcast nothing but a fixed identifier. The app reads those identifiers to work out which landmark you have reached. It does not connect to any device, and does not scan for or identify phones, wearables or other equipment around you.
Notifications
Used to tell you about a landmark you have reached. On Android, an ongoing notification also allows beacon listening to continue while the screen is off. Notifications are created on your device. Nothing is sent through a remote messaging service.
Run a foreground service (Android only)
Lets beacon detection keep working while the screen is off, so you are not required to hold the phone in front of you for a whole walk. While this is active you will see an ongoing notification saying the app is listening; that notification is how you can tell it is running.
Internet
Used to download the trail information, landmark photos and map images described below.

What is stored, and where

Everything the app saves stays on your device:

Uninstalling the app removes all of it. You can also clear it at any time through the operating system's app-storage controls.

Information sent to other services

The app has no server of its own and no account system, so there is nothing to sign in to and no profile of you anywhere. It does request files over the internet, and as with any web request the service on the other end can see the IP address making it:

Requests for trail information and photographs do not include your location, beacon detections, or an identifier created by the app. Map providers may process device, network, or location information under their own privacy policies in order to deliver maps. The developer does not receive that information. The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or social-media components.

Children

These are public parks and the app is suitable for all ages, but it is not directed at children specifically, and it collects no personal information from anyone regardless of age.

Changes to this policy

If the app's handling of information changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it.
